I'll admit that I'm not familiar with Train's music except for a song called "Drive By" from their sixth studio album California 37. "Drive By" is a pop rock song that's enhanced by vocalist, Pat Monahan's heartfelt singing and a catchy arrangement of instruments. Check out the video for "Drive By" below: As a result, I was intrigued about reviewing their seventh studio album uniquely entitled, Bulletproof Picasso, which is being released today, September 16, 2014. If you have never heard of the American rock band Train before, it consists of Pat Monahan (vocals), Jimmy Stafford (lead guitar), Jerry Becker (rhythm guitar and piano), Hector Maldonado (bass), and Drew Shoals (drums). Train originates from San Francisco, California, and they have won three Grammys, two Billboard Music Awards, and dozens of other honors and distinctions. In terms of sales, Train has sold more than ten million albums worldwide and thirty million tracks worldwide. Train's goal for Bulletproof Picasso according to Monahan was “to emotionally connect with people through the songs.” He adds, “But I also want to get into people’s lives with this album. We’re very excited about Bulletproof Picasso and we’re looking forward to performing some of the new songs for all our fans.”
In all, Train's Bulletproof Picasso is a 50 minute album of 12 songs that deeply resonated with me. Train succeeded in their goal because I could relate to the struggles of love, the powerful feeling of being in love, and to the childhood innocence that Monahan's alluring voice depicts. The band's instruments, especially the guitar and piano playing also helped give the album an uplifting and fast-paced beat that will have me playing these songs repeatedly on my MP3 player. Bulletproof Picasso is a playful ride of life and love that will connect with listeners to a profound degree. Tracklisting for Bulletproof Picasso: 1. Cadillac, Cadillac 2. Bulletproof Picasso 3.
